Keratin and HairBotox sit next to each other on every salon menu, and clients almost always assume HairBotox is the 'newer keratin'. It isn't. Different jobs, different chemistry
Keratin is a smoothing treatment. It coats the hair shaft with keratin proteins and seals them with heat, flattening the cuticle so hair reads straighter, shinier and frizz-free for 3–5 months.
HairBotox is a deep-repair treatment with smoothing as a side effect. The formula is loaded with amino acids, collagen, B5 and hydrolysed proteins that fill in porous gaps in damaged hair. The hair feels rebuilt — not just smoothed.

Damage repair — the real difference
If your hair is over-coloured, bleach-lifted, heat-damaged, or chemically straightened in the past, HairBotox will visibly rebuild and strengthen it. Keratin smooths, but it does not repair structural damage the way HairBotox does.

Longevity, formaldehyde and pregnancy
Keratin: 3–5 months. Some classic formulas contain trace formaldehyde — we use formaldehyde-free brands (Cadiveu, Brasil Cacau, Nanoplastia) at our Bagalur salon.
HairBotox: 2–4 months. Formaldehyde-free by formulation. Safer choice during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and gentler on sensitive scalps.

- Keratin is a smoothing treatment that flattens the cuticle and straightens hair for 3–5 months. HairBotox is a deep-repair treatment that rebuilds damaged hair with proteins and amino acids while keeping your natural texture. Keratin smooths; HairBotox Treatment repairs and smooths.
- Is HairBotox better than keratin for damaged hair?
- Yes. If your hair is bleach-damaged, over-coloured or heat-fried, HairBotox repairs structural damage in a way keratin cannot. Many clients do a HairBotox session first, then keratin 4–6 weeks later once the hair is healthier.
- Which lasts longer — keratin or HairBotox?
- Keratin lasts longer — typically 3–5 months versus 2–4 months for HairBotox. Both can be extended with sulphate-free shampoo and a keratin-safe hair spa every 4 weeks.
- Is HairBotox safe during pregnancy?
- HairBotox is formaldehyde-free and generally considered safer during pregnancy than traditional keratin. We still recommend you check with your doctor and we offer a patch test on request.
- Will HairBotox straighten my curls?
- No — and that is the point. HairBotox keeps your natural waves and curls intact while eliminating frizz and adding shine. If you want straight hair, book keratin or nanoplastia instead.
