CompareNanoplastia vs Smoothening

Nanoplastia vs smoothening, compared.

A nanoplastia hair treatment rebuilds the hair with nano amino acids and finishes glass-smooth while keeping movement, formaldehyde-free, for 8+ months. Smoothening uses thioglycolic acid to break and re-form the hair's bonds, leaving it pin-straight for 4–6 months — a permanent structural change and the harsher of the two. At The Jawed Habib Bagalur we recommend nanoplastia unless poker-straight hair is non-negotiable, and we will say so at the consultation rather than after.

Best for
Anyone weighing glass-smooth-but-still-moving (nanoplastia) against permanently pin-straight (smoothening).
  • Nanoplastia — formaldehyde-free, glass-smooth, movement stays, 8+ months.
  • Smoothening — pin-straight by re-forming bonds, 4–6 months.
  • Nanoplastia conditions; smoothening permanently changes hair structure.
  • Fine, damaged or colour-treated hair: nanoplastia, every time.
  • Smoothening only when poker-straight is the actual goal.
  • Patch test and strand consultation before either.

Frequently Asked

Answers, straight from the chair.

Nanoplastia or smoothening — which should I pick?+

Nanoplastia, unless poker-straight hair is the actual goal. It is formaldehyde-free, gentler, and keeps movement; smoothening permanently re-forms the hair's bonds and leaves a visible line at the regrowth. We will tell you honestly at the free consultation if neither is worth it for your hair.

Which lasts longer?+

Nanoplastia 8+ months, smoothening 4–6 months. Smoothening does not wash out the way a coating does — it grows out, which is why the regrowth line shows.

Is smoothening bad for your hair?+

It is the harshest of the smoothing options because it breaks and re-forms disulphide bonds. Done properly by a senior stylist with a patch test it is safe on healthy hair, but on fine, bleached or already-damaged lengths we steer to nanoplastia.

Can I get nanoplastia if I have had smoothening before?+

Usually yes, but tell your stylist — previously smoothened hair has already been chemically restructured, so we strand-test and adjust the strength rather than run the standard formula.

How long does each take?+

Nanoplastia 3–4 hours; smoothening 3–4 hours. Both need a single uninterrupted booked slot — neither is a walk-in service.

What do they cost in North Bangalore?+

Both are quoted after a free consultation at The Jawed Habib Bagalur, Reva Circle. Length, density and condition decide the figure, and you get it before you book.
